Whilst public expectations have increased, the model of the professional has come under increasing strain. This has lead to a continuous redefinition of the role and character of ‘the professional’.
There seems to be a lack of confidence from Government in the power of professionalism to deliver, and vice-versa. Meanwhile in the private sector, access to established professions is becoming increasingly restricted whereas newer professions struggle to gain recognition.
In the Unions21 tradition – this round table seeks to look forward, toward a sustainable model for the professions.
