ICE
Cold - The union response to Information and Consultation?
1230-1400, Thursday 29 November,
London WC1
Mike Terry and Jane Parker
from the University of Warwick, will present some of the findings
from a recently published report
on implementing Information & Consultation. One argument contained
in the report is that "unions have generally adopted a defensive
approach to the Regulations". Steph Marston, Head of Organising
at Connect, and Hannah Reed, Senior Employment Rights
Officer at the TUC will explain if and why that's the case and
share their thoughts on the first years of the ICE regulations.
The event is free to attend.
Lunch provided. A few places are still available, so please register
to receive full details.
Future
Members: What is the new manufacturing?
Wednesday 21 November
Manufacturing has always been a
source of union membership and strength. The decline in traditional
UK manufacturing jobs has impacted on union membership. So what is the
new manufacturing? Ian Brinkley, Director of the Work Foundation's
Knowledge Economy Programme, discussed the changes in manufacturing
and the wider knowledge economy and Unions 21 debated the implications
for union organising and growth.
